How do I activate the banner on my store?

After installing, go to your Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → Customize. Open Theme settings (gear icon), then App embeds, and enable the Consent banner toggle for PlatinumConsent. Save the theme.

How long is the free trial?

14 days. No credit card is required to start. At the end of the trial you'll be prompted to subscribe for $9/month to keep the app active.

What happens if I don't subscribe after the trial?

The banner will stop appearing on your storefront and script blocking will be disabled. Your settings are saved so everything resumes the moment you subscribe.

Which ad scripts does PlatinumConsent block?

Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Snapchat, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Twitter/X Pixel and Pinterest Tag are held until a visitor consents. Google Analytics and GTM use Google Consent Mode v2. Session recorders like Hotjar and Microsoft Clarity are gated through their own consent settings — see the Clarity question below. Either way, nothing tracks a visitor until they accept.

I use a session-recording tool (Clarity, Lucky Orange, FullStory, Smartlook, Mouseflow). Do I need to set anything up?

Most session recorders start the moment a page loads, before any banner can stop them, so each one has its own setting to wait for consent. PlatinumConsent sends the accept or reject signal to all of them automatically — you just switch that setting on once in the tool's own dashboard. For example, in Clarity: open your project, go to Settings → Setup and turn the Cookies toggle off. Lucky Orange, FullStory, Smartlook and Mouseflow each have an equivalent consent option in their settings. Trackers you add through Shopify the usual way, like Google, Meta and TikTok, don't need any of this.

Does PlatinumConsent work with Hotjar?

Hotjar is the one exception. Unlike the other recorders, it has no on/off consent signal we can send after it loads, so PlatinumConsent blocks its script before consent instead. For full coverage we recommend also turning on Hotjar's own consent option (or connecting it to your consent banner) inside Hotjar's settings.

Does it work with my theme?

Yes — PlatinumConsent is delivered as a Shopify app embed and injects a single script into your storefront. It works with all Online Store 2.0 themes and most legacy themes.

How do I cancel?

Uninstall the app from your Shopify admin → Apps page. Billing stops immediately and you won't be charged again.

Is my data safe?

We only store your store domain, banner settings, and the Shopify session data required to authenticate you in the app admin (which may include your name and email as provided by Shopify). Visitor consent choices are stored only in the visitor's browser — we never receive or store them on our servers. All data is encrypted in transit over HTTPS and stored securely on Railway infrastructure.
